DRAGAN NIKOLIĆ - selector of the fifteenth Belgrade International Film Festival for and by people with disabilities
Dragan Nikolić (1974) is a director, screenwriter and cinematographer of the documentary films POGREBNIK(2013), CAVIAR CONNECTION (2008) and NATIONAL PARK (2006), all three premiered at IDFA, the most important documentary film festival in the world. In addition, these films they were shown at over 80 other international festivals, with a total of 18 awards won.
Among other things, the film THE UNDERTAKER was ranked in the TOP 10 best European TV documentaries in the opinion of the expert jury of the Prix Europa festival and winner of the award for the best Serbian documentary film on Beldocs (choice from the total prize pool); while the movie is CAVIAR CONNECTION winner of awards for the best documentary film at all major festivals in region, among which Sarajevo Film Festival, Zagrebdox and Trieste Film Festival stand out (selection from the total pool of prizes).
They were broadcast on the televisions of well-known international broadcasters such as ZDF/Arte (Germany /France / Austria / Switzerland / Italy), Channel 4 (Great Britain), SVT (Sweden), NRK(Norway), YLE (Finland), RTVSLO (Slovenia), Al Jazeera Balkans (ex-YU territories), DBS (Israel), Global Voices (USA) and 92 other channels within the PBS network (USA), MAX TV (Croatia),several television stations in BiH and RTV Vojvodina.
Dragan Nikolić is the (co-)screenwriter of the films DIRECT (FEST 2019), MADE IN SERBIA (FEST, 2005), and RUN BUNNY, RUN (Cannes Film Festival, 2003, best film in the cinematography category).
He gained experience in film production as the founder and co-owner of Prababa production doo, in to which he was assigned the tasks of artistic director (since its establishment in 2007).
He participated in trainings: EURODOC (regional group), Berlin Talent Campus, IDFA Summer School, Atelier Varan Paris and Aristoteles Workshop.
He was engaged as a selector of the Belgrade Short and Documentary Festival film (March Festival 2017), Beldocs (2018) and the Belgrade International Festival ethnographic films; member of the jury of international and domestic festivals; and a member of the Film Commission of the center of Serbia (2016 and 2017).
In theater circles, he is better known as the playwright of the play TRANSYLVANIA (more than 10 years in the regular repertoire of the Belgrade Drama Theater) and I, an American(included in the top five for Steria's award in 2014). He graduated from the Dramaturgy Department of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, and graduated fromChairs of philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy, both in Belgrade. He completed his Master's studies inin the field of film and TV directing, also at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts of the University of Arts
in Belgrade, where he is currently a doctoral student at the Department of Theory and History.
